2023 Klimbing for Kids Campaign Launched

Haven of Hope International is proud to announce the launch of its annual “Klimbing for Kids” Mt. Kilimanjaro Charity Climb fundraising campaign, in partnership with The Laser Lounge Spa. The Laser Lounge Spa will kick off the campaign with two fantastic events on May 23 and May 25, including the TOX-A-THON at their Naples location and KYSSE-A-THON at their Estero location, respectively.

 

All proceeds will go towards Haven of Hope International’s Future of Hope program. As a result of Laser Lounge’s 2022 TOX-A-THON event, scholarships were awarded to 27 of Haven of Hope International’s young adults from orphan care partner homes in Bolivia and Kenya. Haven of Hope International’s annual “Klimbing for Kids” charity climb fundraiser is more than a climb. Its focus is to raise awareness about the worldwide orphan crisis. Both climbers and non-climbing donors to the scholarship fund will help create a lifeline for orphaned teenagers aging out of care by providing essential life and career skills that will set these young adults on a path to successful adulthood. Alice Sweet, Haven of Hope International founder, explains, “There is a global orphan crisis that is big and real. It is 153 million children strong. By population, it would be the 9th largest country in the world. It is estimated that 99% of these children will never be adopted. Yet, each one has a dream for a better future and a destiny to fulfill.”

In 2023, Laser Lounge sponsored Megan Garcia, Patient Liaison, Consultant, and Laser Technician at The Laser Lounge Spa in Estero, who made the challenging Mt. Kilimanjaro trek as a first-time climber. Garcia summarized her experience: “The joy you feel when you finally reach the summit will have you searching the whole rest of your life for the next big mountain to climb. Greatness is within us all, and for me, Kilimanjaro was the key that unlocked it.” As a result of Megan Garcia’s incredible experience, Laser Lounge has committed to sponsoring a climber each year. Sweet concludes: “We are excited to kick off our 2024 “Klimbing for Kids” Mt. Kilimanjaro Charity Climb fundraising campaign with The Laser Lounge Spa. This event is an opportunity to create a lifeline for orphaned teenagers and provide them with the skills they need to build a successful future.
