Why we do what we do.
Tumaini lived just outside the city of Nairobi with his parents and younger sister. The family’s dwelling was a twelve-by-twelve shack with mud walls, a corrugated tin roof, and dirt floor. When he was seven years old, his parents died of AIDS.
He and his five-year-old sister lived in the shack for nearly a week before neighbors in the settlement realized that the deaths had occurred. The children were brought to a nearby church and ultimately moved to a local orphanage. The orphan care home was their salvation.
Thanks to technology packages provided by Haven of Hope in 2020, children like Tumaini were able to attend online classes during the COVID crisis. In addition to having access to a laptop and an internet connection, the children living at the homes that received technology packages benefited from the telemedicine resources that became available to the orphanage. Please help us continue to offer hope and healing to children who so desperately need your support. Show your love and compassion by contributing today. Our goal is to raise $5,000.
