At Haven of Hope International this September 16-27 we are using our feet to bring awareness to the worldwide orphan crisis, energize a movement, and ultimately accomplish an awesome feat. We invite the Christian community to join our Klimbing for Kids campaign to respond to this crisis and become part of the solution.
The HOHI ministry is focused on the 153 million orphans worldwide and specifically the 99% that will never be adopted. You may have heard us talk about them as the Nation of Orphans. By population, the orphan nation is the 9th largest country in the world. Pause for a moment and think about that fact…larger than Russia, Mexico, Japan and 223 other countries and territories according to the United Nations Population Division. They are a voiceless nation in need of ambassadors.
While our ministry has been called to serve these children by setting a new standard in orphan care —the entire Christian community has been called to “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” (Psalm 82:3) The orphan crisis deserves our attention and, most importantly, action.
We know that God has a plan for everyone, including these children, and that these children have dreams for their future. “For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) Statistics tell us that without life and vocational skills, only 30% of orphans will avoid a life of crime and survive this crisis. Survival is their real Feat.
We invite you to be part of our 2022 Klimbing for Kids campaign. Our team will climb to the 19,342-foot-tall summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. That will be a Feat! We invite you to help us reach our campaign goal by sending a climber (commitment deadline July 31, 2022) or making a pledge to help us reach our fundraising goal of $200,000.
Every 3 seconds a child ages out of care with little support at this pivotal time in their lives, facing adulthood alone. We aim to change that. HOHI Futures of Hope Vocational Sponsorship Program provides a path for them to fulfill their dreams and become responsible members of their communities.
