In the heart of Bolivia, amidst the bustling streets of downtown Santa Cruz, lies a beacon of hope for young women seeking a path to a brighter future. For years, Refugio de Esperanza has been at the forefront of providing support to their young people beyond them turning 18 through their transition programs. However, it wasn't until 2023 that a new chapter unfolded with the launch of an off-campus transition home on the Potter's House Campus.
Headed by Graciela Chelita, and operating under the visionary leadership of Gladys and Marco Aldana, this transition home marks a significant milestone in the organization's journey. The seeds of this initiative were sown in 2022 when AJ White, a passionate advocate for orphans aging out of care, embarked on a transformative journey to Bolivia during an HOHI Vision Trip.
Inspired by the resilience and potential of the young women he encountered, White collaborated with Alice Sweet and the directors of Refugio de Esperanza to explore the avenues for expansion. Through the unwavering support of his pastors, Mandy and Josh Taylor from Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Georgia, a mission's effort was born, fueling the financial backing necessary for the program's inception and successful inaugural year.
As each day dawns in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, the echoes of transformation reverberate through the corridors of the transition home, serving as a testament to the power of community, compassion, and collective action. Through collaborative efforts and unwavering dedication, Bolivia's transition programs are paving the way for a future filled with hope, empowerment, and limitless potential for orphans around the world.
If you have not yet joined our Family of Hope, please consider supporting these young adults as they embark on bringing their dreams to life. Your support is valuable as they transition from living in Refugio de Esperanza to living off-campus in the transitional program.
