Global Orphan Care Training Expands to 37 Homes in 19 Countries

Empowering Orphan Care Worldwide: A Global Training Update

At Haven of Hope International, we believe that equipping caregivers is one of the most powerful ways to transform the future for orphaned and vulnerable children. This quarter, we're excited to share a significant milestone from our Orphan Care Training Institute (OCTI)—a global effort to raise the standard of orphan care.

New Course Launch: Five Steps to Behavioral Change

In partnership with Dr. John Sweet, we've launched a timely and impactful new course: Five Steps to Behavioral Change. This course addresses one of the greatest needs in orphan care—understanding and guiding children through trauma-informed strategies that lead to lasting transformation.

Global Reach: 37 Homes in 19 Countries

Through weekly Zoom sessions, over 100 caregivers and directors are now receiving this training. The training is currently being offered in English to those serving children in Africa and the Carribean and is also being provided to homes in Central and South America in Spanish.  We have expanded our reach to those serving children that are waiting for financial support.  The needs are currently beyond our ability to fund, however, we can provide them with free training.  Please pray as we trust God for the ability to expand our funding to these on the front lines of care.

The Impact is Already Incredible:

In May 2025 alone, Dr. John Sweet provided weekly zoom training to 100+ caregivers/directors from 37 homes/organizations impacting 3,000 children and 19 countries spanning across Latin America and Africa.

Looking Ahead: Praying and Preparing for 2026

We’re stepping out in faith, praying and preparing to formally partner with many of these homes in 2026. But to do that, we’ll need the resources—and the partners—to make it possible.
We invite you to join us in prayer, support, and vision as we expand this movement. Together, we can ensure that every child receives the trauma-informed, family-style care they deserve.
