In an extraordinary gathering of leaders from across the continent, the Global Church Network Uganda Summit brought together representatives from more than 11 nations with one purpose: to strengthen the church’s response to pressing needs in Africa. Among the vital conversations was the urgent call to equip caregivers and leaders serving orphaned and vulnerable children—a need that resonated powerfully throughout the summit as leaders responded.
Haven of Hope International Orphan Care Training Institute (OCTI) was honored to participate and share about our proven trauma-informed caregiving resources. The response was nothing short of staggering. Pastors, directors, and caregivers voiced a united cry for training that would help transform the quality of care offered to children across their communities, orphanages and refugee camps.

Launching Training Across Africa
Since our attendance at the Uganda Summit, the momentum has only accelerated. By God’s grace, OCTI has already launched training initiatives in over 30 agencies across Africa, bringing life-changing strategies to caregivers who are on the frontlines of serving children in need.
These trainings cover essential areas such as:
- The Peace Model – Foundations for caregiver orientation and child development.
- 5 Steps to Behavioral Change – Trauma-informed care that promotes healing and resilience.
- Crisis Intervention & De-Escalation – Practical tools for managing challenging behaviors with compassion.

A Growing Movement of Hope
What began as a single summit is quickly becoming a movement. From Uganda to Kenya, Tanzania to Sudan, leaders are embracing this vision: that every child deserves a safe, loving environment where healing and hope are possible.
At Haven of Hope International, we believe the church is uniquely positioned to answer this call. The Global Church Network Uganda Summit has reinforced the reality that training caregivers is not just a program—it is a Kingdom mandate that has the power to transform nations, one child at a time.
Looking Ahead
We celebrate the doors God has opened and the partners He has aligned with us. But this is only the beginning. With the overwhelming need and eager response, OCTI is committed to continue expanding training opportunities across Africa and beyond. Together, we can raise the standard of orphan care worldwide and give a voice to the Nation of Orphans.
