Raising a Cry for the Nation of Orphans

It has been a season of powerful momentum as Alice and John Sweet continue to raise awareness for the Nation of Orphans. God has been opening doors, and voices that were once silent are now being heard on global platforms.
At the recent Global Church Network Summit in Athens, Greece, Alice opened the gathering with a heartfelt prayer that echoed across the room—a prayer as a voice for those who have no voice. The atmosphere was deeply moving, but that was only the beginning.

A few days later, Alice stood again, this time on the floor, delivering a speech that captivated leaders from across the nations. With compassion and conviction, she unveiled the staggering reality:

  • 153 million children make up what would be the ninth largest nation in the world if they stood together.
  • Less than 1% of these children will ever find a permanent home through adoption.
  • Every three seconds, a child ages out of care—from an orphanage, foster home, or group home—often without a high school diploma or a marketable skill.
  • The overwhelming majority face heartbreaking futures—many turning to crime or prostitution, far too many attempting suicide.

These children are one of the greatest unreached people groups in the world—yet they are within reach of every local church, every regional pastor, and every national leader.

Alice’s Cry Rose Like a Trumpet:

“Lord let people see…
The children are like sheep without a shepherd.
The harvest is great.
The workers are few.
Lord, send more workers into the field!”

Her Words Echoed the Timeless Call of Jesus:

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.’”
— Matthew 9:36-38 NLT

The presence of the Holy Spirit in that room was undeniable. Hearts were stirred. Eyes were opened. Leaders responded. Multiple ministries—prayer groups, evangelistic missions, and orphanage networks—have already stepped forward, asking how they can join as ambassadors for the Nation of Orphans.

This is only the beginning. A great cry is rising. The church is awakening. The children are waiting.
