Haven of Hope International is thrilled to share the incredible progress at our new partner home, Refuge of Life, in Pucallpa, Peru. Opened in July 2024, this safe haven for girls provides a nurturing environment for 12 young ladies, offering them a sanctuary from a world where options for orphans are severely limited.
The transformative power of child sponsorship has been evident in the remarkable stories of these girls. One such story is of a young lady initially misdiagnosed as "developmentally disabled." With the expert training provided by Dr. John Sweet and the dedication of our onsite psychologist, Gabriella, we have uncovered her true potential. Thanks to this specialized care and attention, she is now excelling academically, a testament to the profound impact of targeted support and belief in her capabilities.
Our dedicated staff at Refuge of Life work tirelessly to create an environment that addresses and heals the deep trauma these young ladies have endured. This goes beyond mere rescue; it’s about comprehensive restoration. The results have been heartening—many of the girls have not only caught up academically but have also become junior leaders in their classes, showcasing their burgeoning confidence and abilities.
But our work is far from over. Refuge of Life has room to welcome six more girls who desperately need a safe and loving home. However, to open our doors to these children, we need more sponsors willing to make a life-changing difference.
