Building More Than Walls: Thank You to Our Pennsylvania Partners

At Haven of Hope International, we are deeply grateful for Men & Women of Action’s Pennsylvania team, whose adoption of Watu Wa Maana in Kenya demonstrates what it means to invest in a home for the long term.

Last year, the a team led by Pastor Dean Ramsey, Carlisle Church of God, traveled to Kenya to help raise the walls of the new Dream Center. They also completed much-needed renovations to the original kitchen, cafeteria, bathrooms, and children’s living spaces, bringing fresh paint and new life throughout the campus.

They also helped prepare the bathrooms for running water from a newly drilled well. Today, children can brush their teeth and wash their hands at bathroom sinks and have running water in their showers—simple things that make an enormous difference in health, dignity, and everyday life.

The new Dream Center continues that transformation with running water in the kitchen, gas stoves, and space that will soon be equipped for vocational training.

But our vision goes beyond buildings.

One of Haven of Hope International’s project goals is to ensure that every partner home has both a therapeutic playground and a Learning Lab—spaces intentionally created to help children heal, learn, grow, and thrive.

The Pennsylvania team is already helping make that vision a reality at Watu Wa Maana. They have provided tablets and laptops to strengthen learning opportunities, and when they return in January 2027, they will help set up vocational rooms and build a new playground for the children.

We are incredibly grateful for partners who don’t simply complete a project and leave, but continue investing in the children and leaders they have come to know and love.

Together, we are creating environments where children can truly thrive.
